They forced out the necessary autists to please woke trash. So this is what they requested.

I haven’t been bullish about open source’s future since SystemD. I held my nose and played along bit but it was pretty clear that the rot was only going to get worse.

The issue isn’t whether he was a hardass. It’s whether he inspired loyalty and effectiveness from his crew. He did neither and that hurts the whole.

That said, he didn’t have time to build the needed trust. Usually a temporary or brevet promotion for the XO would achieve that quicker unless there’s a damn good reason to bring in an outsider. During a war there’s usually a shortage of experienced captains during a war but a flagship like Enterprise would carry an admiral with his staff. That’s what a flagship is and why it’s called that. It also gives an XO put in command a mentor and advisor.

This isn’t Star Trek specific and is generally what you see in wars in navies.

I’ve been sure all along that he was an intelligence asset to build kompromat sufficient to control narratives in media, certain political topics, and thereby public sentiment. Nothing has changed my mind including about some people they courted and I believe did not step in it.

I think plenty of decent people resisted it but weren’t a threat to the op, but would be named in the files.

I took years to accept the awful word "blog" and only then because it was entirely unavoidable. Scrobble was too lame to get embraced on that level, but with things getting more retarded over time, that may get worse and it may find its way back into having a shot at the mainstream and I'll be stuck having to allow it in the most grudging possible fashion

The illusion died with Janet Jackson for most people I think. They were undisputed as the biggest televised event of the year that everyone would watch and then talk about the next day at work. The halftime show used to be about having the biggest spectacle for its own sake. Now they have to invite controversy to even get talked about.
