Something I like about the fedi medium is that it's not like a chat conversation where losing a message is actually a problem. I can just goto bed (I'm about to) and maybe see some messages tomorrow, maybe not, react to what I want, etc. So no apology necessary.

Well, I certainly break that rule pretty badly - but I think perhaps the better guideline is no matter what you do, never ever ever say something to try to "sound smart". That shit backfires every single time.
