@DEERBLOOD @monsterislandcolonizer @graf I had a couple of buddies who had Wiis. They were simple fun and good for when friends are visiting. It didn't replace real gaming, but it was good for goofing around, like Wii Bowling from the kitchen when you can't see the TV and throwing consecutive strikes.
I sometimes think about getting one because my boys would have fun with the driving games and whatnot, but for that price I could probably get a steering wheel and pedals for my PC and just throw them at BeamNG or something else I already have.

the Wii shop channel music is an enduring cultural legacy, other than that ehh. doesn’t help that this was the generation where rereleases on the next generations of consoles became the norm so 90% of its notable games are playable on the Wii U or switch and never really left circulation as it were. nostalgia requires some distance in time and when everything is always available that doesn’t really happen anymore.

@monsterislandcolonizer @DEERBLOOD @graf the wii "has no footprint in emulation" because the emulator for gamecube (dolphin) is the same one used for wii, the original hardware arquitecture for the wii during development was 2 gamecube boards superglued together, even early devkits were internally twice of the gamecube hardware with a couple extra modules for OS, internet and bluetooth, the release console just had all the hardware integrated into a single board
