I think they were, but only because they were really good at building that one specific thing. In general, Russia has a much more developed industrial base. Clearly all of the hypersonics are coming from them.
Also, there aren't going to be any factories making anything in Iran for much longer because they're all going to be bombed out. From here on in, it's going to be stockpile and what is smuggled in.

Initially until the Russians started manufacturing their own version, which they have massively improved, the Russians are now experimenting with miniature jet engines, missile launch systems and more, I won't be surprised if they have passed back some of the new designs to the Iranians.

@cjd @caekislove @restful @PalePimp I got a feeling this is going to be long lasting, I don't think anyone backing down. With so many downsides for US you have to wonder if US would actually nuke themselves in interest of Israel, obviously they wouldn't, but is there any limit to US acting against their own interest for a foreign country
Out of all the parties, the US is probably the least interested. But the only way out is to just walk away from the middle east, which means walking away from the US empire.
It's plausible that Trump may have started this because he wants to destroy the empire now rather than let it collapse later. The Swamp is built on top of the empire, and destroying it now will destroy his enemies before they can destroy him. It's a long shot but it's not utterly impossible.
More plausible that Israel would like to kill the US empire in order to ascend to power in the middle east.

1. All Jews are Israeli citizens
2. All Israeli citizens are required to serve in the military
3. Therefore all Jews are required to report to Israel immediately to begin training
And cynical European governments will take one look at this and say "By George, he's right!"

Nukes won't do anything against the Iranian combatants, they're not in Tehran. This war is going to be fighting Iranian hillbillies in the mountains. Nuking mountains is just a fast way to use up all of your nukes.
However, if they introduce nuclear warfare into the equation, then it allows Russia and North Korea to supply the Iranians, which is HELL because Israel, KSA, UAE, etc are all FULL of high value targets.

Remember, Israel is militarily indefensible, it is too small and barely has any natural barriers. They exist because of their parasitism of the USA.

@Dicey @caekislove @restful @cjd One doesn't need an AI, anybody with a modicum of culture knows the Persians were never conquered, the country is a fortress. They have had minor occupations during WWII by the Russians, but that's about it.

@UnityOstara @Dicey @caekislove @restful @cjd Google used to work well for any search right until they borked it so you would read more ads and later made it spew AI summaries, which for now more or less work but will be made worse again once the tech is established/entrenched, because enshitification.
My advice is don't rely too much on AI and use your brain.

@cjd @caekislove @Dicey @restful Exactly Nukes are great for two things, destroying cities or erasing large concentrations of soldiers. They do nothing against the terrain, and Iran is way to large.

Draft is unthinkable. Ever since the 70s, Americans are known to shoot draft officers - and if they're drafted, they shoot their commanding officer once deployed.
I think they're going to try a really dumb tactic and use illegals. Promise them citizenship for service, give them 2 weeks of training and parachute them into Iran. It absolutely will not work, but if you're desperate and stupid, you can convince yourself that it might.

But you can easily imagine that when the proposal starts getting passed around, a lot of other people are gonna have more or less your reaction, and that's another reason why it should be considered a likely scenario.

Well, except that popular opinion has little to do with what actually happens in the US. I think any scenario that involves nonwhites in the US being targeted to be killed in various ways is unlikely.
Well, their other problem is they're just out of options.

This causes broad based inflation, because ~everything uses oil to be made & transported. But the US is likely, at some point, to just go print a few hundred trillion dollars and say "lol that was fun, thanks guys"
