@bronze I hate the obsession with cars which is primarily concentrated among dumb fuck boomers. Their love of classic cars is retarded and hypocritical considering they're the same people who sent most of the used cars to the junk yard over the past couple of decades driving the prices up to nearly unobtainable levels.
@wgiwf @bronze For me, for my entire life, cars have always served one purpose. A to B. Anything else just doesn't appeal to me and is borderline beyond my comprehension. Aesthetics, racing, etc. Mysteries to my autistic mind.
Funnily enough I keep my vehicles perfectly maintained. Unless it's cosmetic damage, which has never bothered me. Taking a key to a vehicle I own would probably be the least offensive 'offensive' thing someone could do to it as far as I'm concerned.
And yes, boomers' disposable income allowed them to be extremely irresponsible with 'land yachts' which I frequently see for WAY below their asking price. I've considered purchasing one just to have as a backup home or for friends to stay in.
It's weird to me how they view campers as depreciating asset at a time when younger people are desperate just to get and keep a roof over their heads. Hopefully boomers stay that ignorant about it.

@Eiswald @bronze Aesthetics do matter a lot to me. And the visceral feel of the purely mechanical car is something quite different to the computerized modern car.
By "land yachts" I mean old "personal luxury" cars or other large old cars that aren't fit to be hot-rodded or turned into some boomers masculine display piece, think of old 70s full-size cars, etc. RV's are an entirely different can of worms.

@Eiswald @bronze When's the last time you've heard a boomer talk about a Dodge Monaco or a Buick Electra? Probably never. They act like little children and are only interested in the shiny sports car all rodded up that they leave in the garage, never to drive.
The best "classic car boomers" are the ones who are into obscure stuff. They actually seem to care about the car itself and will talk at length about the quirks of it, and often are even be willing to pass on their knowledge. Whereas the average boomer cares about them no more than the status symbol and nostalgia toy that it is to them.

@wgiwf @Eiswald @bronze These are in my opinion one of the slept on newer classics and the best part is that they are still quite affordable and cheap to repair.
@DemonSixOne @wgiwf @Eiswald @bronze seats in the base model P71 are more comfortable
@DemonSixOne @wgiwf @Eiswald @bronze but you also run the risk of 15 years of trapped farts too
@DemonSixOne @wgiwf @Eiswald @bronze My 03 had power seats. Are the Lincoln's a bench? 40/20/40? 40/60? I replaced the bench seat in my Sonoma with buckets from a Jimmy and it was the best thing I ever did ngl
@bronze WTF I love classic cars now?
This is the only reason anyone likes classic cars, because they want to forget that post-1971 ever happened.
There's no classic cars from the 1930s or 1940s, those years are not interesting, they're just "antiques".
It's all late 50s to early 70s and that's for a really good reason.

@cjd @bronze There were some cool design styles in the 30s and 40s, but unfortunately they had other flaws or economic conditions that kept them down. They also had the post war baby boom that made them impractical for the large family. 1940(?) Mercury town sedan:
It's pretty much all of reddit at this point, because they've banned every based sub and made the rest of them gay.
They're cool, no doubt, but they're not "classic cars", they're "antique" or "collectable", but people don't drive them for the same reason they drive a GTO or a Mustang.
i really really need one of these .. doesnt have to be restored , just whole
