@Sovereign Trumps Quebec tweet from yesterday:
@Bush No lie, and you might not appreciate this from me but I don't mind this... I do NOT think he is the friend of Québec mind you. I just don't mind him increasing the antagonism. Anything that can help jump start a separatist movement is ok by me. I do not want Québec to join the USA or any weird alternative projects. I just want my people to have their own sovereign home (as sovereign as any modern state is, even vassals).
Quebecois will regain their home when they take it instead of asking politely.
@Snidely_Whiplash @Bush Ok based.
Quebecois have had Canada in somewhat of a chokehold for years now. Back in the 70s Canada tried to assimilate them, that didn't go so well, so they got their own semi-sovereign territory and Canada agreed to give them infinite welfare and leave them alone.
A running theme is that people who live nearby to French speakers tend to experience bullying.
Same thing happens to the Germans 😆

@cjd @Snidely_Whiplash @Sovereign @Bush Canada has the misfortune of having Quebec sort of just there, cutting it in half. If Quebec was off to one side somewhere, Yukon or whatever, my impression is there'd be a lot less concern about them doing their own thing and going their own way.
As White countries go, Canada is structurally one of the weakest. Canada wouldn't make sense being split in half by Quebec's exit, just as east and west Pakistan didn't work out.
You'd end up minimum with two successor states and the dam holding back separatism cracked.
Of course I think North America could be in for some border redrawing in the not distant future. It's not as if I think the United States is going to be a thousand year Keich either.

@WTFPurpleAlpaca @cjd @Snidely_Whiplash @Sovereign @Bush This was an interesting read as a young guy way back when. I honestly couldn't tell you if it was even that well written it was so long ago but the plot certainly grabbed me. Looks like it upset the right people at the time, though. 😆
