The boat would be easier to destroy. The ship being an original has no bearing on the results of it's destruction. It is the same result. Meanwhile, the hotel being infinite would require infinite time to destroy. His best bet is to destroy the ship and move on. It is objectively the path of least resistance.

The real hysteria is coming from people beginning to understand all at once how isolated they are, and how very little of reality they can confirm for themselves. Blaming jews/trump/libs is a coping mechanism intended to convince themselves that, at the very least, they're tracking the problem, even if they admit to themselves they are practically ineffectual
