Ridiculous that the distraction with our Anglo-Saxon and Gallic brethren in the Great White North has gone on so long, though it does seem like it’s reviving Canadian civic nationalism. Had Don focused this much energy on the Panama Canal, which America has a right to and is much too important to leave to a tiny state that will just sell out to the highest bidder, we’d have it back by now.

The US kind of has to make those extreme demands because their disaster scenario is that China partners with Canada and uses it as a staging area to push civil war into the US.

But they're not gonna convince anyone of anything unless they come with some VERY attractive deal points, which as far as I can tell, they're not.

But if they don't make a deal then China gets their staging area, and if they invade Canada to close the staging area then China gets a second Iran.
