someone on xwitter lamenting that he doesn't see fireflies anymore

like a lot of things, they don't seem to do well in modren bugpod cities. I see them every night from spring through fall

growing up we called them lightnin' bugs and fireflies

I'm kinda out in the country. I see one every once in a while, but nothing like the dozens I would see at any one time when I was a kid 40 years ago.

Grew up east, millions all summer. Used to squeeze their flouresesence on our faces like war paint. Been out west for forever and we only see a few for a couple weeks. We cherish the opportunity and sound like excited kids when we see them.
