ice is breaking the law but the people telling you they need to be executed don't want any immigration enforcement at all so it's pretty much just communists being communists,which is a different flavor person who makes up lists of people to mass kill

@sun we had immigration enforcement before ICE and we can go back to that

@feld there is literally nothing wrong with deporting people if they aren't here legally, and it will never be "nice" to do that. but we can expect to not deport american citizens, use due process, not shoot people protesting

@sun @feld There's also the issue where ICE doesn't let USCIS handle their process to review e.g. asylum cases and will bypass USCIS proceedings to ask a judge to deport someone based on like 30 second interactions.

A lot of people being deported did everything right and aren't being allowed to let the process play out

@eris @feld the asylum system was rigged to just flood the country but it's the law and should be changed not just unilaterally ignored by ice

@sun @eris rigged by Republicans to be dysfunctional by ensuring we have as few immigration judges as possible to process the cases quickly so we can figure out if someone really should have their asylum claim honored or not

then the Republicans can scream we have all these people inside our borders that shouldn't be here, because the cases are so backlogged...

@sun @eris but we have to assume such a "DoS" attack is going to happen on our asylum system anyway. So it's our responsibility to make it as robust as possible.

So your answer to this problem is... make it impossible to claim asylum?

Our own Article VI sets us up to have such a system. We're legally bound to have one as part of our international commitments. Only way out of that is to... idk, become North Korea and close off the entire country to the world?
