@sun If what you are providing is the rich presence/friends/networking etc I've long thought it would be doable with p2p things like the dht. Very doable I think. Marketplace is harder to decentralize unless you're talking about like, p2p based file distribution and payments facilitated by e.g. crypto rather than cc's
@sun I guess the question is, what part of the problem are you trying to solve? The whole thing? a drop in replacement?

@sun You're going to probably wind up just like steam, make a marketplace, make some games for yourself (high quality) and police it. You're probably not going to "decentralize" QC.
@pwm tbh I have a lot of goals and many of them are in conflict with one another. Add to this no body wants a crypto platform except grifters and naive idiots
@sun I think you'll need to pilot it with high-quality first-party games to showcase what's possible, teebeeaych. Whether that's slots, or genshin impact or fifa but spectators can bet on it eg. etc if you just build infra, it's not going anywhere. If you build a product that uses the infra you made then it's still a gamble but not a certainty that it will be disregarded, like building a railroad without trains.

@sun So you're planning on using the browser to sandbox them away from the system? You'll be in luck for like, anything written in C that can transpile but does for example, godot or anything have a webasm target?

@sun AAA isn't your market. More like souped up facebook/newgrounds type shit. Your target is basically candy crush and genshin impact players so I don't think that's a worry. if you could get pygame (I'm assuming what every visual novel is written in) running on it you'd have six kajillion weaboo dollars pouring in every 30 seconds.

@sun I mean it definitely sounds plausibly achievable. Would take capital, investors, all that crap.
@sun I guess I'm saying you're trying to use the game as a medium for something else, people who have extrinsic motivations to the thing itself,. even if it's "good" per se
