Back around March of '24, Turbo had decided we had to pay to upload images. This, of course, caused a massive outrage among all of us. At this point, Rob, who had been an admin of Gab, started schizo posting about how he had data crawlers going over everyone's accounts and there was no use is deleting and he was gonna do stuff to us. This was when the "freeloader" shit arose. I don't kindly to threats like this so I nuked my account.

I was personally mad about how he went about it. It's true that shit costs a lot of money at scale but his "no fuck you" rather than at least humoring the community by listening was where he went wrong. People seem to forget that nothing is free even if it's given to you for free, and Torba seemed to forget that his customers are what keep his business alive.

He is using bunny.net for S3 and CDN. Torba could have saved a fortune building his own. Wouldn't expect Colbert to be intelligent enough to come to that conclusion considering he was using digital ocean for HIS VOICE
Is gab still in league with that loser? I was under the impression that they cut ties but I could be wrong. Haven't touched gab since they pay walled posting images.

I would have understood his money crunch IF he hadn't given $20K to Faguentes.
That and he was spending a lot of resources into a shitty AI program. Instead of improving his site, he kept trying to do other thing, when the main focus should have been his site which was everyone's major complaint.
That's what really did it for me. Turbo donated money to a guy who's 'fan base' was wreaking havoc and making life miserable for everyone. Unforgivable.

When I created my NCD, it was N3F who talked me into coming over, and Matty approved me in I think 15 minutes. Feels like ages ago.

At one time, for a year (maybe two), I had a paid sub on Gab. I let it lapse when the real BS started and I was getting harassed by Fuentes 'rapists' and Turbo did nothing about their wreaking havoc on the platform. They ran roughshod for a long time and zero was done about it.
I found my way to Poast and have been donating $20 a month ever since. The behavior that was tolerated on Gab would NEVER be tolerated here and that's worth a lot.
