@lw how complicated is said home network

@elliot i'm not sure what the right scale for "home network complexity" is but i guess... fairly?

it has externally 2x IPv4 /28s and a IPv6 /48 that are subnetted and need to be routed to the right place, some other internal-only networks (RFC1918/ULA), and is part of a VPN covering three sites including this one

@lw @elliot I appreciate you didn't mention tailscale or something equivalent

People forget you can build networks without such tooling, and they tend to be more reliable anyway

@feld the only reliability issues i've had were with MikroTik's buggy OSPF implementation, but they seem to have fixed that and it's pretty stable now @elliot

@lw @elliot I did setup some OSPF mesh networks for clients somewhere around 2011-2013 with Mikrotiks and I do recall weird bugs ... 🫣
