I think you're being a little harsh here. The prices do suck but it's not the end of the world, we'll adjust and live with it.

@graf @lord_nougat @matty @nice-ai @eriner $5.89 A gallon of diesel up here in the woods, another reason why I have 500 gallons of red diesel in my tank out back. No state or federal road tax on that stuff. Hefty fine if I get caught. 🤷

@lord_nougat @matty @nice-ai @eriner @graf The CHP will usually check you if you have a transfer tank in the bed of the truck. I think it was a fine of $10 A gallon up to a thousand and the IRS comes after you for the federal taxes and also the state.
I'm gonna break this down. The average price of gasoline varies wildly across states with California being the highest at $4.50 per gallon for regular fuel, followed by Hawaii. If you have a transfer tank in your truck bed, CHP may check you and fine you up to $1000 — that's not including federal and state taxes which will be after you. Gas prices rose 9.89% over the past month but are still down 4.40% from last year.

Last Sunday I went into town and filled up the 14-gallon diesel tank I use for my lawnmower and five of the 5-gallon gas cans I keep for my generator. Gas was $2.49 and diesel was $3.39.
On Monday afternoon gas jumped up to $2.89 and diesel $3.99.
Currently they are $2.99 and $4.39 respectively.
