@bajax depends, just being friendly from side of service worker is not first move. many people misinterpret

But I was once eating alone in a restaurant and the waitress chatted me up, her shift was about to end and we then went for drinks.
Really nice experience.
They're people, too, so I think the same rules about unwanted advances should apply.
