@stefano how long have you been running this config for yourself? My experience is that Time Machine over Samba is “rock-solid” only until it isn’t. For probably 8 years now across multiple MacBooks and NASes I’ve had to trash my backup chain every 6-9 months because it gets in that state where it claims verification has failed and you can either

- keep the history but stop backing up
- or take new backups but lose all the history

I’d love to find a fix, but have never been able to.

@_calmdowndear it's happened to me, too, but years ago and only once. I've been running this for 6/7 years and it's been quite solid, except that time that it couldn't delete old backups and the disk was full, forcing me to enlarge the assigned space
