So all the world's national governments who refused to meaningfully reduce their fossil fuel and gas usage during the last couple of decades, are now discovering that going for oil and gas is not the safe bet they thought it would be. Doh. Also, they want everyone to be fine to with brutal monarchies and authoritarian governments as long as the oil flows. The same governments like to pretend to care for children which however were out in the millions to protest the adult's idiotic policies.

@hpk it's easier for the USA to control the flow of oil than sunlight and wind :)
I see people online saying things like "Why doesn't Cuba just convert to renewables already?"
They don't have the raw resources or industry to manufacture it themselves, so they'd have to buy it. And the USA as the "strongest" economy that everyone wants (or wanted to) do business with which comes with a stipulation: obey our sanctions or you can't access our market.
So who is available to sell to e.g, Cuba and doesn't need to access the US markets or can weather the wrath of Uncle Sam?
*crickets*
However,. control is slipping through their fingers and it's making them very worried and erratic. Iran probably won't be the last...
