The Commission official said the bloc’s intention is that the EU app becomes a global standard, similar to the vaccination app used during the Covid crisis.
@CapitalB but of course. They have a plan, you see. This is one of the reasons why I'm not using European ISPs
@ThatCrazyDude yeah but this will go global.
Any sat based network is one rule away from being banned on a platform.
@CapitalB well, it might fly in Europe, both EU and non EU states, definitely in China and such, but something tells me they'll have a real hard time selling it to the US. The NSA is not about to give up its ultimate say on who can and who can't use the interwebz and spying possibilities, so there's that.
@ThatCrazyDude @CapitalB do you think musk will not switch off starlink if his money is threatened? i'd say he wants the x eu market more than he wants the handful of starlink people.
@bonifartius @CapitalB everything's possible, obviously, but given that he still haven't blocked RT even for EU customers, I'm cautiously optimistic

No,.bc parents can pay for a SIM, there are thousands of open wifi, there are shared connections etc.
You see. The fucking millenial normie parents refuse to police their breed their breed. Why? I dont know. They all fell into the trap of."this time it is different". While WE had unrestricted, uncensored and uncommercial www/Internet, THEY want to prohibit their offspring that.
Meanwhile the fedi, private AI, sneakernet, Bluetooth and stupid parents+teachers.
@cjd @bonifartius @CapitalB yeah, I mean, they can totally come up with oauth-like thing that will require you to provide your actual state issued ID in order to get an account - that's totally doable, but then they'd need to somehow force every single website to require this kind of authentication for access. I don't see how they can possibly enforce it
This is the part I'm getting at... Dumb European ID no one uses, now required in order to login to Dumb European Social Network no one uses...
@cjd @CapitalB @ThatCrazyDude they'll just a mandatory captive portal for internet access at the isp
The internet of shit is going to love that.
@cjd @CapitalB @ThatCrazyDude the internet of shit will get some forever valid certificates as alternative and the hack will be to extract those or something.
things could be so nice. they don't want us to have nice things, just out of spite.
@cjd @CapitalB @ThatCrazyDude guess my real point is that there is a need for an alternative net infrastructure that can't be pressed into doing shit. no idea how to achieve this though. closest thing normal people might be able to pull off is something like loon.
Just don't use the dumb websites that demand it, problem solved. It's gonna be the top 10 websites that are all way way way too big anyway...
@cjd @bonifartius @ThatCrazyDude
Office365, eHealth, parking tickets, gas station/manure/electricity rations, car mileage, border crossing (and dont you stupid Americans think they wont use state or outright despotic lines crisscrossing deliberately through integrated areas), subsidies, maybe even grocery store entry (muh knife violence), Autobahn toll, general media consumption (imagine ALL media tight to eID), CBDCs (obvious), fundrug and UBI.
You can invent more if you want.
