@sun @i @augustus I started looking into how to train models from scratch specifically because of this; I've said it before and I'll say it again, but I don't want 10 english majors huddling around a single book making up a story to tell me, I want one hyper-autistic STEM major with 10 books sharing his most plausible stringboard scenario with sources cited.
@nugger @Kalogerosstilitis2RevengeoftheJunta @cosmonautkatyusha Balkanization would be the most gentle solution
@nugger @Kalogerosstilitis2RevengeoftheJunta @cosmonautkatyusha The state actively discouraging formation of cohesive communities is such a simple concept with complex mechanisms that has been truly and wildly effective.
@sickburnbro @cjd @caekislove @Shadowman311 @WandererUber I saw the ones that Hayden Site (Erick from MDE) uses and they're pretty phenomenal. There are older machines (from early 00's) too that are designed for brick road recycling that require more manual operation, but they were pretty clever and really minimized the hands on operations required.
@sickburnbro @cjd @caekislove @Shadowman311 @WandererUber I would have thought that more southern/flatland fast growth forests would've been quick to adopt the more mechanized methods, but from what I can gather (pure speculation) about the way American forestry is done, the bigger thing is to pack as many trees into an acre as possible for financial/real estate valuation purposes, cherry pick good timber from every harvest for the sawmill, then send the rest to pulp mills. Whether it produces quality lumber is irrelevant because most of it is being sent to pulp mills or engineered lumber product factories, and the land is being held for investment portfolios, not productive use.
@sickburnbro @cjd @caekislove @Shadowman311 @WandererUber It's sad just how few North American timber managers have brought over all the harvesting tool that they use in Scandinavian countries. Lightyears ahead in tree felling technology, and here we are still using handheld chainsaws and manually de-limbing.
@PankoPoster @graf @grey I'd venture to guess that there's probably some sort of speech law thing going on in Canuckistan, and regardless of where the talents are located PC and fish man would be ripe targets. Canadian government filled with the kind of faggots that'd make an example to any non-jeet friendly corp that doesn't keep their stick on the ice.
@rlier23 @PankoPoster @graf @grey 2 reasons:
First is that no matter what's actually going on he doesn't want to induce panic, scaring away brands and talent, effectively sinking the company overnight.
Second is that if there actually is legal BS pending, the worst thing a company in trouble with a handsy government can do is to call attention to the handsy government, risking retaliation. Whether or not the legal action is justified or by the book is irrelevant if he's been handed a gag order and is forced to watch his company burn to the ground while fighting the system, so his safest choice to keep the company afloat while looking for an exit strategy (if he's even thinking of an exit strategy) is quietly letting his own reputation burn to prevent the same from happening to his bank account.

@lain Show me moore please
@lain I see the clickhole logo, but at the same time the likelihood is high that it could be true.
@lain @ElDeadKennedy Thank you, Jeff, very cool.
@lain Love me some O'tacos, simple as.
