Fun fact I learned when learning about diet and nutrition. The actual problems related to modern diets are almost exclusively hormonal. I think most of us are aware of the relationship between sugar and insulin but something i never hear talked about is the relationship between consuming fat and the hormones leptin and ghrelin. Leptin and ghrelin are critical for satiation. When you eat fat these hormones make you feel full and satisfied. In fact people report feeling a glow. Others feel that several of the modern "mental illnesses" like depression are a function of not eating enough fat. I have no proof that TPTB went to war with fat for these reasons but it wouldn't surprise me
