@pernia @beardalaxy I guarantee there was some frame from a video like that which was just like a bathroom tile or some shit and the AI tripped up on it. That's my theory at least.
A while back some of those "people" passed around a funny "prank" where they'd challenge someone to post a seemingly innocuous image from one of those videos, taken out of context, and you'd get perma'd in the same way.

Tl;dr, it uses "fuzzy hashing" to stop pedos from changing a few parts of the image to break the hash detection (demonstrated with normal images) and as a result it's easy to see how that can cause a problem.

This is the other problems with these tools. It sounds vigilant on paper, that the pedos won't have access to it, but it creates another problem. What if you're a small site owner, who now has to comply with the new "ban CSAM" law and you want to do this because you think pedos should burn too, but they willingly won't let you for whatever reason they feel like?
Hence, it's why that site I mentioned had to develop a method to stop spam by using AI.
@sendpaws @7666 @pernia @Kerosene @The_Vampire_Brigade @beardalaxy @bronze @HonkHonkBoom @sun @scathach my thought is that the csam producing parties know there's an informational asymmetry here and are using it to destroy the entire internet before they're able to be prosecuted in the full knowledge that the big producers have already cut deals with feds et al. to not be prosecuted, so the conseuqnces only fall on those poor sods who aren't in the business of producing or distributing csam. many such cases as they say!!

That's how cohost got raped, the thing with Fastly is they aren't free and want you to pay up while Cloudflare gives you sick deals for small sites.

They paid their 4 guys out of a $400k donation 90k, leaving $40k for the site. Then they got sweet talked into using Fastly. Also 2/4 of their employees didn't do much but maybe be jannies.
