@jae I am also missing this a lot in the fediverse, it is so powerful to be able to have more than one server for the same profile, that now I don't even know how to live without it in other platforms

it would be good for the fediverse because quite often you can't see post from other people because your server is not federating with their server, with such network splits having several servers at the same time is even more needed!

there is already #Nostr solving that problem, but to be honest the community around is always talking about bitcoin, crypto, blockchain and other crazy stuff

👋Hi, ArcaneChat magician here 🧙‍♂️ this is the section where I teach you some magic tricks to help you get the full potential out of ArcaneChat

In today's lesson we will be looking at the image editor of ArcaneChat:

when you attach an image, before sending it you could click in the pencil ✏️ icon to edit it, here you have all kind of cool tricks, from drawing to blurring a part of the picture, ex. to protect some faces

you can also put some text, what not many think of is that using the text option you can also enter arbitrary emoji, and then using two fingers to pan you can make it bigger or rotate it and put it the way you like, this gives you a lot of gadgets to add to make your images more fun

if you have kids in the family using the app they will love it, together with the drawing brush it is also a source of entertainment for small kids! (this was tested already! just a small advice: better do it in a dedicated profile or they might accidentally mess up your chats or send stuff to your contacts!)

sometimes @wikipedia feels like a mafia, some #DeltaChat users tried to create a Delta Chat entry in Wikipedia (EN) several times over the years and they always rejected it, claiming it is not relevant enough and needing more sources,

when sources were provided someone would comment that "likely that are paid articles" and shit like that

even when Delta Chat page exist for other languages already

then there are things like Beeper https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beeper_(software) with a SINGLE citation to a paid-walled article

what gives???

please if some of you have experience contributing to Wikipedia (and I guess some secret connections or being known contributor is needed as well) consider creating a Delta Chat entry

Signal is centralized and hence much more easy to block, while Delta Chat can even work in intra-net and mesh networks

Delta Chat can use several servers "relays" at the same time, do you remember that downtime with signal when amazon or cloudflare are down?? with Delta Chat is one of your relays go down you can keep chatting using the others

Signal doesn't support using the same account in multiple phones, and multi-device with desktop is weak and still depends on the phone, with delta chat you can have several devices at the same time and it is super easy to add a second device

each device in Delta Chat works as an incremental automatic full backup, while in signal you have to upload backups to some cloud and eventually pay for it when the backup is too big

in Delta Chat you can have several profiles, as much as you like, easily separate your work profile (with more serious avatar and name) from your family profile where you can use more informal name and avatar etc

you don't need phone numbers or any private data to use Delta Chat, onboarding is super easy, no SMS codes, no solving CAPTCHA like on Signal

No strangers can discover you and send you spam or fishing in Delta Chat same for your family members, so it is a safer space for family chat

Delta Chat has offline-first in-chat mini-apps like games, collaborative text pads, checklist, shopping lists and other tools (all end-to-end encrypted without any 3rd party service hosting such apps, they live in the chat and only chat members can access them)

in Delta Chat you can save messages in a "Saved Messages" chat, #signal also has "Note to Self" but what is superior in Delta Chat is that you can also jump from the saved/bookmarked message to the original message and see it in its chat context, in Signal it just forwards a copy of the message to the "Note to Self" chat
