19Great sure but what edition of D&D is this
@WandererUber i rember when I dmed a game many years back (we lasted 2 sessions)
@theorytoe i rember when my megalomania led me to announce and pin that I would play a campaign with fedi frens at some point.
I play at least once a month. At some point I had two regular groups going.

@s2208 are we sure that matters for this question
CR means it's 3E or later.
Yeah, CR is gay. Imagine thinking someone planned out the world to be fair to your character
You know what CR was before they had CR? Don’t fucking go too deep, and when you meet a monster, parley or run
That’s real CR

Back in the day it was expected that you'd reroll all the time because characters were dying.
Modern D&D caters to theater kids who want to tell an epic story. You're not allowed to kill their characters with a surprise umber hulk.

@s2208 @theshortbus cr is for the DM not the players. If your players memorized the monster manual you got other problems
Well, here: most players are also DMs
@s2208 @theshortbus some fantasy world you live in, mate. I've played for many a year and I've yet to see the day
You mean nobody you know is also a dm?
We’re filthy with them. None of them can kiss my feet while standing on a chair because none of them go deeper than adventure paths and Critical Role, but we have TONS of them

@theshortbus @s2208 it's different and both types are fun. The problem with modern TT is not that the play style is gay, the players are.
Making ridiculous characters and sticking to the bit for three months can be really fun. That said, I'm mostly over modern DnD at this point. I prefer OSR games and odd settings. One of my groups is doing Achtung Cthulhu during WWII now (as the good guys though)

@s2208 @theshortbus I guess Matt Mercer had more of an impact on your neck of the woods than mine. I've never seen someone DM badly, but they don't want to. Got exactly one other buddy who likes DMing
@WandererUber i don't know what any of this means because i've had sex with a woman
@TeaTootler good for you
@TeaTootler fakecel
@TeaTootler @WandererUber Wow cool guy over here, was this “woman” even multiclass’d?
