I thought it was a Stefan Molyneux post for a moment. Someone hurt Sam. If only it were possible to narrow it down to one or two people. ![]()

18Anyone who has had young children knows it is nearly impossible to 'reason' with them at times, and restraint does not fix the problem, and that's not what the Bible says to do anyway.
Proverbs 23:12
Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
Proverbs 23:13
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Proverbs 23:14
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
I don't agree with the take that someone without children isn't allowed to speak on it because as you well know a lot of people have children even though they have no business having children, and vice versa.
And I think many many people are totally unable to apply a just hand and therefore most all corporal punishment is just dished out by frustrated adults that also never learned to control their anger and they just lash out. Whether or not telling those kinds of people to not hit their child would actually improve anything is questionable though, genetics and all that.
I don't need to say anything more, as it doesn't matter. A tale as old as time is the man speaking confidently about what he has no experience in, and harming everyone else around him because of it.
This disconnect has well ruined my country.
I wasn't trying to be disrespectful, it's just I do not believe in God at all, wasn't sure if you were aware of this, and I didn't want to open that can of worms. It wouldn't be right for me to speak on Christian matters.
Have a good day new bean.
Have a good day too
I think the idea that you can reason with a toddler like it's an adult is stupid (common mistake people make these days), but there is also a difference between light slaps to straighten a kid under the age of five out, and outright physical and emotional abuse that I've seen leveled against kids over the age of 10.
It's like everyone forgot that in the late 90s early 00s America tried "no cry parenting" or whatever the hell it was called and it ended up disastrous with a ton of kids on meth.
and ironically, no reduction in crying
Capital punishment sets boundaries. What Sam describes is someone who has been physically punished but never been built up to be strong. That's the key missing ingredient in a lot of recent generations, parents didn't want to make their children (particularly boys) into great people, they probably usually wanted them to just not be nuisances.
I am willing to believe that in some cases it's possible that a child needs a smack over the head to actually get it, even though the parent is smart and matured enough to only dish it out when it is just.
In most cases though, such people make smart and well-adjusted children who are mostly fine with much milder forms of punishment.
And most who beat their children are idiots who can't control themselves. Leftists cope about a perpetuating circle of violence, but we can infer from violent criminals that it is not the environment at all.
It's just their nature, so they would kick the crap out of their kids even if they were never beaten themselves.
Studies show that vaccines are effective and safe. You really need to take into account that science and academia have been turned against our benefit for a very long time now. If you want to know if capital punishment is really detrimental, figure out if the greatest man you know was ever spanked as a child and you'll be closer to your answer than any study could ever get you.
>I fucking HATE science, actually
if you are unwilling to understand exactly how they "have been turned against our benefit" (the only thing I was saying) that's one thing, but I'm pretty sure you'll have no problem leaning on it when it supports what you wanna hear. see this a lot with self-described science haters.
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?"
Matthew 7
yeah okay I mean you're really not even engaging with what I actually said, which is that the study sam cited probably only shows what it does ("spanking bad") because they fail to control for genetics and restraint of the parent. But whatever
