Honestly, the fact that the human population on earth was 2.5 billion in 1950 and now we're at 8 billion is kind of scary.

7We have got to be heading to societal collapse right? There's no way to sustain 9 billion people for that long an amount of time with how things are currently going as far as the climate, manufacturing pollution, industrialised agriculture go, right?
Also this is not me making a cogent point, it's just that I learned this fact a while back and it's haunted me since for reasons I can't quite describe.
I propose we build a giant underground maze to keep us all alive after the apocalypse. Everyone could be.... Given a specific zone..... Within the..... Labyrinth......

@Velveteen it is also, in a strange way, a marvel of how good agriculture has got. We now have more food than is required for every person on Earth. It’s just that the distribution of food is so lopsided that it’s not happening. Anyway, the rate of population growth is slowing down – we are running out of new people to be born. We’re getting to the point where everyone who needs to be born is being born. There are now very few countries in the world with extreme birth rates. Once you understand this fact, you will understand a lot of how our overall society will have to reckon with a slow burn as the amount of older people grows, and the amount of younger people stalls.
