Doesn't that mean there's something wrong with the servers or something

there's a lot wrong with the servers. but when you see that it means the server has an activity or an object that doesn't have an object or and activity associated it with. this is a known bug. the reason it happens so frequently and people see it on poast is because we had much, much more content happening during the time that whatever is causing it has happened. some of us have some ideas as to how we will handle it, but until that happens its just a happy little accident :)

Ooooof, "developing our own engine" is the greatest red flag for any project out there. There have been so many kickstarter and crowdfunding scams where the devs use the donations to create their own engine to try and sell on to the rest of the industry instead of doing what they promised. The most prominent examples that spring to mind are Camelot Unchained (Unchained Engine), Star Citizen (Star Engine) and Dual Universe ("Dual Power" engine).

nah man if you go in the discord its just a bunch of merchbeards sucking eachother off. I hate it because I wanted that game so, so so bad. and it was fine. but then it wasn't. then somebody died. now it neds to be rewreitten.

this is the 4th time I have seen this necropost in the last 36 hours @phnt you ever spend t ime looking into the necroing you were getting? something about this one in specific, at least 4 times maybe 5 or more

@graf I never got a necropost on my TL that I remember and was never able to reproduce it. I'll look into it eventually, its in my bookmarks and on my list, but no ETA. I'll make a issue about it though.

there is nothing in the log about it either. just nginx when it hirts the top of somebody's timeline. I have been tearing my hair at this specficially for about an hour. I'm going to sleep and look at it again I think. couple shots of bourbon

@graf I think it might be related to max_id being set to an old post on some requests, which then results in old posts being fetched from DB for the timeline on the next request. How does the backend return an old ID is a mystery to me. It might also be something wrong with the pagination that causes it.

@hj @graf That's a separate issue that I haven't seen in months. This one is on timelines and possibly related to searching for old posts, which makes no sense to me.

Edit: also it's not related to frontends, multiple frontends and mobile apps experience it.

@phnt @graf weren't there an issue that repeater post id and repeated post id are mixed up?

@hj @graf Yes, that's a Pleroma-FE issue, but that's a frontend issue with hacks in the backend that need removal eventually. I don't think that is related unless it's somehow also in Nicolium, old Soapbox and Husky.

About three weeks ago, Poast started feeding it to me a couple times a day every day

there's something specific about this post, maybe its trying to insert it as an activity or as an object (usually one or the other is what is causing the necro posting) but it can't, I'll have to look at it when even 5% of the shit thats on my plate right now is off

Waaay back then I rewrote an entire ragnarok online modded server codebase to use the latest rAthena, just to burn out after finishing it.

Making a MOBA mode was fun tho, no regrets.
