The military is obviously crippled or Europeans would not be willing to go anywhere near. Tying up loose ends with IRGC hold outs sounds like what is happening. To what extent the freedom fighters who are Iranian citizens, get involved is yet to be determined. Nobody knows but you have your mind made up already. I'm hoping for the best. The panic bros have been claiming WW3 every time Trump does anything with our military. So far they have been wrong, every time.
@Zennblack don't underestimate Europe, mean. I mean, the EU as an organization, go for it all you want, but as far as European countries go.... I was literally fighting for the US after 9/11 even though I'm not even a green card holder, so there's that. The US has yet to prove itself as an ally like that. Just saying ;)

I think what countries like France and Italy are doing is standing around and making sure their oil shipments get there. If they gotta pay 2mn to Iran to clear the way, who the fuck cares. That's pocket change for a government.

Most recent word on the street is that the number is currently 2mn/ship. Which equates to around 2$/barrel.
Iran has confirmed the death of many of its leaders, etc. But there are bunches of them. I wonder if it has become fractured, and whoever "Iranian state media" is getting their info from, is a different group that Trump is referring to.
Of course it's entirely possibly that one or the other are spewing bs and likely that both are.
If they're fractured, then there's no possibility of ever ending this because nobody's going to be able to call a ceasefire.
It's possible Trump is talking to someone, it's also possible that it's basically a scammer who is looking to make a buck by offering a "ceasefire" in exchange for sending some BTC to This Wallet Address... If there's fractured leadership then the line between scammer and real is blurry because even if someone claims they can deliver a ceasefire, it's questionable if they actually can.

All true, but hard to imagine that there isn't at least some fracturing. It also seems that there is some pretty good intelligence getting out of Iran, so we'll see what happens.
Who is likely to be able to stop the war is the Russians or Chinese, who are most likely in contact with everyone in the region - including any significant factions - because they're providing intel and support.
But trying to get something out of either Russia or China will require concessions that suck worse than just going without. Back to the old meme...

Well Trump mentioned 4 to 6 weeks of war at the outset. It's only in the 3rd week.
I also expect that his people have more information than I do, so I'm not going to be to bothered by it until 6 weeks are up and it's still a cluster f.
That's not a functioning way to decide if a war is likely to expand or not. Every Single War in history was "supposed to be quick". WW1 was supposed to be quick. Russia in Ukraine was supposed to be quick. Russia thought it would be a quick win, the west thought Russia would quickly collapse, and here we are...
I can tell you this is probably going to spiral out of control into a world war, and the way I know this is because everybody wants it.
