I think it was around 15 years ago but definitely after the 2008 financial crisis that boomers just did a 180 and started telling White kids that college was stupid and they should learn a trade instead.

This is after spending the last 30 years preaching college as the only way you can get anywhere in life.

You're literally going to be working at Mcdonalds for the rest of your life if you don't go to college. Thats what they told us.

The worst part is not wearing shitty clothes and living a shitty poorfag life. Its living shitty poorfag life while being surrounded by extreme extravagance and opulence from all sides. Historically it ended up with bourgeoisie on the chopping block.

Can confirm; though surprisingly at one point my dad did tell me he was impressed that I bailed out from college my first run before falling into absurd debt. I’d started out thinking he meant to at least partially finance my continued education - but it became increasingly obvious over time he had no intention of doing so. I guess it had been a test of sorts - which I apparently passed.

We'll still see another wave of college closings in the next few years.

I was taught that everyone needed college. Then I worked in higher ed and saw that most people don't. College is a scam to people from their money and drive them into perpetual debt.
"dumass kid shouldve gone into college"
"i went and im unemployed and full of debt"
"dumbass kid shouldve gone into trades"
"i went and now lefties control all the institutions/my job got taken by infinite third worlders"
"dumbass kid shouldve gone into college"
*repeat indefinitely*
while you should absolutely be cynical about the world
dont waste money stupidly, a penny saved is a penny earned and you will want that "28$ meal" to buy a bag of flour when your unempoyeed

nobody who makes $70,000 is consistently eating $28 lunches unless they have to or they live and work in a place like new york where you can't go out for a bite to eat without getting raped.

dude theres women in 7 figures of debt and call themselves "middle class" while living in their car. I know we are all autists here and plan for the future and can do basic math; that isnt everyone.

The wake up seems quite hard on normies, it will need to be a few punches in the face.

100 iq zoomers will still exist, and while boomers did 10% credit cards at that iq, zoomers at that iq are doing buy now pay later or gambling apps
>nobody who makes $70,000 is consistently eating $28 lunches unless they have to or they live and work in a place like new york where you can't go out for a bite to eat without getting raped.
It's weird how all the ones saying "DoorDash bad" won't direct their rage towards the Pentagon.
@smugumin @Terry
>Hey! I went to STEM, managed to miraculously get out without debt/with low debt.
>dumbazz kid should've gotten an internship
>I did, but the company let me go for some H1-B/outsourcing to China/AI.
>dumbazz kid should've made a portfolio
>I'm part of a FOSS development team, with some smaller projects in tow
>dumbazz kid should've pulled himself up and make his own business
>I looked and the fees, hardware costs, and legal stuff is too expensive for me. I cannot take out a loan because my credit score is too good
>dumbass kid should've gotten into medical
*repeat ad infinitum ad nasuem*
@Marakus @Terry
I'm not American, but I can offer some advice: learn everything you think might be useful and divide your knowledge into two areas:
A) Modern highly skilled work: use your knowledge.
B) Traditional highly skilled/medium and low-skilled work: use all your skills and learn when practical office work exists, such as plumbing, electrical work, cleaning, repairs, agriculture, etc. In any crisis, it's best to know how to do everything; it's better to know how to survive and thrive in the face of the unknown. (Worst-case scenario)
@Marakus @Terry today they'd deliberately redesign their packaging to make it difficult or impossible to reuse
rember when yogurt used to come in a plastic tub with a reusable lid? well now it's got a single use foil top
cat litter used to come in buckets, now it's cardboard boxes and plastic jugs. can't be giving out buckets in case people reuse them instead of paying $10 for a brand new bucket.
walmart already makes their grocery bags so flimsy they get holes in them from holding a single loaf of bread for 10 minutes, how long before the other grocery chains catch on to the fact people reuse their bags to put in trash cans and they find a way to ruin that?
