This could be yet another attempt at a fake victory in coordination with Iran, based mostly that Iran goes along with it.
Trump bombs the coast, drops Marines on the bombed coast, and then all Iran has to do is *not* kill all the Marines or continue to easily control the Strait.
Or if Iran kills the Marines, Trump gets to say that Iran attacked the US in an unprovoked act of aggression - since, you know, the US already completely won the war, and this is a wholly unrelated action, like he keeps insisting - and then Trump gets to gape in amazement as Americans continue to not support the war.
Or: all of this happens while the real act is for specops to sneak into Iran and then sneak back out with any amount of uranium, which Trump can declare is "all" the uranium, thus ending the war. There's NO WAY that Iran can enrich more uranium now, so it's OVER, OK? please.

@cjd @Terry Iran has missiles and drones with ~1000km range. They're getting satellite surveillance from China. It's not even close to enough to take the mountains surrounding the area. You need an invasion of the entire country to make them stop, and meanwhile no Navy ship has the guts to get within even 500km of the shore.
