We always talk about how the Boomers bought a house for X value. And how much more expensive the same size of house is now. But no one adds that the QUALITY of the modern houses is also much lower than houses in the past. Either because it’s an old house that has degraded, or because it’s a new build that is made with cheaper materials and labor. Home building companies have only gotten better at building houses cheaper. They want to sell houses for as cheap as possible to get more sales. Without these changes in building techniques/materials, houses would be even more expensive.
