HN comment on article about F35 being built for the wrong war

> Somewhat ridiculous piece. Ukraine, 4 years after, still operates a significant number of jets it entered the war with. This is despite hundreds of attempts to eliminate them on the ground with airstrikes, drones, cruise and ballistic missiles.

> And naturally F-35s on that theatre would have been a game changer making mass strikes on Moscow possible. For all the dysfunctions of American military industrial complex it remains a fighter without peers (unless you count F-22) or serious AD threat.

Where ya gonna park it just? You gonna run a fleet of F35s from an airstrip on the front lines?? The F35 can't go farther than just under 700 miles and it's like 700 from Kiev to Moscow

@feld Yeah. I can't see the F-35 as being well suited to Ukraine as things sit.

Maybe if we did a *well planned* assistance with all the necessary support it could impact air control and allow other planes to drive deeper.

But that would be a hella commitment that I can't see really happening in the current environment
