@PurpleStephyr Accepting that I'm going to lose a plurality of my friends, mostly. Thinking about spinning up a Discourse server. Signal, and a group chat I'm in is discussing Deltachat as a backup.
No one has suggested Matrix, which is sad because I could use a laugh right now.
@SymTrkl @PurpleStephyr DeltaChat here. Simple, lightweight, easily self-hosted, and guarantees random strangers and bots won't jump into your chat
edit: if your chat is heavy on media it's a bit less desirable as large attachments won't work well but I do send lots of photos and short videos (about 20MB max)
