@zonk guys who work 8-5
@phnt @mischievoustomato @RustyCrab @neatnik reminds me of how every vibecoded shit project changes programming languages bi weekly. Like you’ll see entire commits that are rewriting the thing in rust from c++
@RustyCrab @neatnik omoarchy works worse then its peers tho. Installing something like cachyos is just as easy without also being a dumb fucks vibe coded shell scripts run by systemd. Debian and fedora work just fine if you can copy a few commands to install nvidia drivers I guess.
Which is easier then hoping the shitty shell scripts get patched

@RustyCrab @neatnik just look at how it actually works and you can see how stupid this is. People only defend because they are a brand new to Linux Redditor who wowed by fancy ricing.
Omarchy is doing nothing special. Its auto arch install is just like existing ones. You can configure hpyrland yourself. DHH has just automated all of this with fragile shell scripts. There is no special sauce here it’s just simplifying the easy stuff at the cost of having a very opinionated default which is hard to customize. I just personally avoid these one man custom rice distros. Same reason I tell people not to use nobara, you are begging to get screwed when they start making their own opinionated changes.
I think finding a guys shells scripts over the actual packages he’s taking from is retarded and reveals this all as a dumb vanity project.

@zonk I got invited to one con which would be a vacation for me. I really hope work doesn’t fuck me over and have me do a work trip those days. First time people have expressed a desire to interact with me in years.
>Find some local furs in my area
>hang out like twice
>”wow dude we do so much stuff haha wow you’ve been to a con? Wow we need to invite you to the group chats and events”
And no one has invited me anywhere or sent me anything
. Do people just all lack object permanence?

@lain just install your basic apps. I promise you installing chromium via pacman or flathub or dnf or apt is way easier then trying to troubleshoot endless bash scripts.
If you really really want a shit ton of installed software then just use opensuse. That iso is heavyy.

Reddit Linux bros explaining how a collection of bash scripts which arbitrarily install software in official arch repository instead via random curl | sh scripts or third party package managers is the first ever Linux distribution to work out of the box!!
You know I thought omorachy was just an arch installer with some dot files that was being boosted for political reasons but it’s even worse.
DHH decided that rather then using Pacman instead updates and software install is done via system d controlled bash scripts. Like random programs are installed with different package mangers and some are called via shell scripts pulling binaries.
How can anyone recommend this to beginners?
It’s the peak meme of saving you 10 minutes installing libreoffice and chromium so you can spend hours when the arbitrary ai slop bash scripts fuck up. I’ve never been a fan of these “Linux for noobs” distros like Ubuntu, bazzite, nobara, cachyos etc since they tend to just simplify the easy stuff and then you run into more difficult problems like the team being too small to regularly provide updates from upstream or being so opinionated that attempts at customization break, but this is like next level bad.

@phnt it’s better then it was before. It used to just be one .md file saying: I like x11, I like the “Unix philosophy”, and no politics. Now it’s just a deuvan fork.
@prettygood one benefit of moving up norf
@prettygood @lebronjames75 when downtown is too populated and you don’t live in a dying town anymore

@vitalis depression would be significantly lower if more drugs were otc
@kumicota @lain @lebronjames75 almost like theoretical thought experiments don’t apply irl.
It’s like how the biggest billionaire free market shills either beg for or live off gov handouts.
Economists have spent the past century saying “this thing will never happen” then it happens lol
