@BowsacNoodle I can see her point, but that way lies multi-generational family revenge killings and the like.

8Yes it is not a Christian behavior, but neither is allowing gangs of rapists to go unchecked. Perhaps if she had castrated him instead. Kidding… unless?
You can even amputate someone's arms and legs - a TERRIFYING outcome for them - but if they're still breathing a week later, that's not considered by the law to be as bad as murder (AFAIK).
I get that the mafia kills people because they want to quiet them so they won't leak information that they want kept secret. But if someone doesn't have private information and all you're trying to do is settle a score, it seems like people (at least organized crime, who thinks about this) would lean toward doing permanent damage but not killing, because the worst case if they're caught is lower...
Dead men don’t talk.
Right indeed, but if they don't really have anything to talk about, it seems to me that a lot of things would be preferable to taking the risk of murder 1 charges. But I guess also a lot of this is just social momentum, organized crime kills people who cross it because ... that's what it's always done...
But one fairly clever way of killing someone is to use poison them with a vaccine, because charging you with murder opens a can of worms about the safety of the vaccine.
@BowsacNoodle “An eye for an eye”….
I’m all for castrating rapists.
Research have shown that castration, both surgical and chemical, doesn't prevent re-offending.
The only real, 100% fool-proof way to prevent a criminal of any kind from re-offending, is death.
