obesity is heavily metabolic dysregulation, though its conceivable that they might still have some plush people (because SOME body fat is actually within human norms even in ancient times)
body positivity can also be "it's ok to have paunch" like there has historically been mistreatment of women who weren't rail-thin or met hollywood beaty standards.
