While tourism "just" requires a nice place to visit, be it for its history or nature.
But yeah, I agree with everything else.

Having the space, machinery and batteries available in multiple locations would be too expensive to start with private planes.
Makes more sense for companies or a joint venture between airlines)/airports to give it a go at first. Or even a (serious) government.

@cjd @Kalogerosstilitisrefugee I missed your rabbit hole diving, but the batteries ownership issue would be handled between those few airports where these short but frequent trips would utilize this planes. Not a huge issue imo.
About the electrical interface, simply bolting down the batteries to the frames and having cables doing the connection seems like a reasonable approach.
You could even eject the whole battery frame in case of an oopsie.

@Kalogerosstilitisrefugee @cjd it's a great strategy that solves lots of issues and inconveniences, but only if you can apply it in a mass scale everywhere, which China can do, but one manufacturer alone is probably not enough
@cjd battery modules seems to be the practical choice.

Very interesting, but I see an issue with the longevity of the cells, where this approach would require full charging and close to full drainage to make it viable. Those would decrease their lifespan considerably, right?
Also, as cells die, replacing them seems like a lot of work (or perhaps not).
Using them for niche purposes would work I guess, like you mentioned. Longer wings with lighter cargo for short trips seems reasonable.

@cjd ah ok. Forgive my ignorance, but I had the impression that eletric was not a viable option because of the weight issue and energy density compared to gas.
So distributing the batteries weight would be good enough? Seems like something that they would've solved already if that was the bigger issue.
