After a bit of a break, I am continuing my Precure adventure with Futari wa Precure: Splash☆Star! This is the first Precure season I'm watching in 4:3. A small reminder of how old this series is. ![]()

@Looming HeartCatch is definitely a standout season! It's got a very different feel going on than the seasons that came before it, and can probably be considered the first «modern» season of Precure.
I'm currently on a quest to complete all seasons of Precure in reverse order, actually! The last ones I finished were Yes! PreCure 5 and Yes! PreCure 5 GoGo!, so it's only Splash☆Star and the original two seasons of Futari wa Precure left!
I need the recs when I feel like watching animu again eheheh
@Looming My absolute favorite season is without a doubt Mahoutsukai Precure! I'm a big fan of the seasons that focus on a pair as opposed to a larger cast, and Mahoutsukai leans very heavily into that dynamic. Mirai and Liko both contrast and complement each other perfectly, and that contrast also carries over into the setting too (magical vs real world). Depending on how thick your yuri goggles are, you might even see hints of (platonic) love. Overall it's one of the most slice-of-life-focused seasons, to the point where the joke in one episode is almost skipping the monster of the week encounter. Oh, and their Cure forms have the, in my opinion, most unique gimmick among all seasons I've watched. Last year's 12-episode sequel, Mahoutsukai Precure!! ~Mirai Days~, was also everything a fan of the original could have hoped for (unlike Otona Precure '23...). I liked it so much that I even bought the BDs!
Second place is easily Go! Princess Precure, for reasons that are difficult to describe. Supposedly, the staff had a lot more creative freedom for this season than they usually do, and you can tell. It feels a lot like a season made by fans of the series, for fans of the series. There's a lot of attention to detail through pretty much all parts of the show. Highly recommended.
Third place is probably Smile Precure! Great humor, I don't think any other season made me laugh as much as this one. After that, it gets a lot more difficult to decide. Heartcatch Precure! is good for reasons already mentioned. Tropical-Rouge! Precure is pretty damn unhinged in all the right ways. Hugtto! Precure can probably be considered the most mature season of Precure. And I'm personally biased towards Star☆Twinkle Precure because it was the first season I ever watched. In the end, there really wasn't a season that I didn't enjoy for what it was!
I need more Precure-watching fedifriends.
