finally received my hand-and-a-half “bastard” sword from Albion! I haven’t cut anything with it yet but first impressions is that it moves very quick in the hands and feels thrust-oriented rather than a chopper

6I am also pleased to discover that one of my blunt swords that I use for HEMA sparring is effectively a bastard trainer for my new sharp sword. they have practically the same dimensions but my blunt trainer from Sigi just has a wider crossguard.

thank you! this bastard is so versatile because the blade is short and nimble with aggressive distal tapering, nearly needle-like in the forward half to the point. it can be wielded comfortably in one hand with a buckler in the other, yet it has a handle just long enough to also grip with both hands like a regular length longsword
