a small injured bird fell into my backyard and there are 4 ravens (I think? they are larger that much for sure) are circling around it trying to harass and attack it. Choco seems to have made a new friend at least and is guarding the little bird that is unable to fly from the cawing gang.

maybe I am misreading the situation? perhaps they are cawing in distress for their own. its hard to tell because the other birds circling above seem much bigger
so turns out I completely misread the situation… I sent pics and videos to the local wildlife center near me and they ID’d the little bird as a juvenile crow, and the birds hanging above are cawing in distress over their child.
they told me that ideally, the baby crow’s parents will feed and nurse it back to recovery for it to fly off with its family. last resort they can send people to take the fledgling crow to a rehab center, but doing so would forever remove it from its parents.

It’s baby crow season here as well and they are a tight knit family pack. Hopefully they will get things calmed down and it can stay with the family.
