his politics aside it's based that Abdul el-Sayed got the Michigan senate nomination because the reaction to his and Mamdani's campaigns really exposed how insanely normalized islamophobia is in the US. like you can straight up accuse a guy running for a major political office of being a terrorist and not get sued for defamation as long as he's Muslim. shit is whack.

@nyx its just not worth it to sue but gonna be blunt seems like the defamation gets legs in the media if the candidate is pro-palestine.
@sun a lot of the time it's very public figures like politicians and right-wing journalists making these spurious accusations so idk if I'd say it's not worth it.
@nyx it is hard to do it in the usa but it seems pretty open and shut if someone just says you're a terrorist yeah.
