@yakumo_izuru they fund a lot of stuff including userland
@sun Considering who their biggest backers are, this is a given.
@thatbrickster I doubt it will get to linus since it's not really a kernel concern but if it did he would do what they said
@sun @thatbrickster a PAM module that's only shipped with android and systemd but only in ubuntu, the future is here
@i @thatbrickster you are not old enough to sudo, this incident has been reported
@yakumo_izuru @sun
"that's why we stay with GPLv2 only"
Yet another moment that aged like milk and RMS is right again.

@sun @thatbrickster
0: already happened with the "ban" of Russian devs.
1: rust
2: using MS github (while he stated he'd never use it)
3: backing up proprietary ai.

@mangeurdenuage @thatbrickster yeah that's why I say it
@yakumo_izuru @sun
>but it's very far from being taken seriously
I say it again.
Most people have abandoned the responsibility of their computing to the void instead of making a sound choice.

@sun I wouldn't be opposed to, say, a PAM module that tracks a user's age and some kind of custom resolvd setup that routes underage accounts' traffic through a hosts file that blocks porn and social media sites, maybe sends an email to root if it's attempted
Will probably set something like this up when I have kids

@scathach my main issue is that it can be done in a privacy preserving way but never is. I'm kind of different than most people on here because I think when everything you do is mediated by a computer that you kind of need some sort of an age verification system if you don't want people to have to do it in person. just do it right so your entire digital life isn't being tracked is my requirement
@mischievoustomato @yakumo_izuru @mangeurdenuage you can cut that way down if you reduce storage, they massively overcharge for that
@anemone @yakumo_izuru @mangeurdenuage @mischievoustomato yeah but also it was DDR5 so it was hard to compare to other vendors though, but the ssd was insane
@sun Hmmmm I wonder why it's literally never done as anything other than coughing up your ID to a centralized database linked to your online accounts hmmmm
@scathach yeah, I know. it's a bad situation because it is needed but they'll never give up their power to spy
