@sun @chrisp @rysiek eh I would argue it's usage is overhyped in the media. Not saying it isn't a thing but I can see a huge demographic of it's users being expats or having some ties to the U.S. Despite El Salvador recognizing Bitcoin as currency it's never reached mass adoption as advertised.

Bitcoin shilling in latinam is a apart of an attempt to establish ZEDEs in various countries. The locals despise them. Countries relying on remittances in their local economy need a stable avenue to send money back home.

@subnetter @chrisp @rysiek @sun back when Milei won the elections some people were curious so I made a video talking about exchange restrictions, among other things. most of the information on those videos does not reflect the current situation anymore, but it is what made crypto somewhat popular here, for different reasons and applications
