the post reiterates what i also found to be true: having the LLMs review code from time to time greatly increases reliability. If he had asked it to do TDD, that would probably also have helped, as it's a sort of implicit code review.

I think the 'let's write a spec' part is a bit of a red herring, it probably wasn't needed. His original plan could have worked if he hadn't done it as "claude, port this to bsd, make no mistakes, and no looking at the hardware either".

having a real loop with real feedback (in this case, the actual hardware being driven by the driver that's being built), these systems work very well even when mostly left alone.
