It all depends on where you draw the lines:
In my eyes the gibs-fed lumpenproletariat isn't "working class", they are definitely not working.
And a significant part of the "middle class" is in government-related make-work jobs or doing lazy-girl jobs in big corporations, both of which are essentially leeching as well.
A plumber is probably working class, but is doing productive work, just like a middle-class engineer.
