15@f0x sleepy? also lol
@f0x gay ass fedi app I'm using
literally had a client side blocklist to not let you use some le bad instances. removed the gay ass thing and use gh copilot to fix bugs with mitra.
@xenodemon @f0x nigga this is a 3rd party app
@f0x @xenodemon fedi could fall due to fear mongering and some laws changing (and getting enforced), but is more likely to fall to spergouts, I think...
@f0x @xenodemon shibao nuked her instance due to fears of laws iirc. There was also I think by @phnt in some thread I don't seem to recall well. Even if possibly unenforceable, the possibility of it being actually enforced against someone is enough deterrent for some people. Thankfully, I'm negligent and irresponsible.
@shibao @mischievoustomato @f0x @xenodemon Yeah, hosting Fedi instances is becoming harder and harder due to the various ID verification laws popping up like mushrooms after rain. I can't host this instance in South Carolina, because I have over 100K users in the DB, which is their limit for age appropriate design or whatever.
UK is a meme with ID verification being basically mandatory, same with EU where these laws are popping up in various states and EU us pushing their W social app that requires ID verification to register. Now apparently my government wants to introduce a soycial media ban for kids like in UK/AU/Fr*nce,... so hosting this instance with more than one user (me) is becoming a legal nightmare as well.
As dumb as these laws are, they are enforceable and will be enforced when the gov wants to fuck with you.
@f0x @mischievoustomato @shibao @xenodemon It is, of course it will be used selectively. The only solution is Tor hidden services, but that doesn't stop the government from making Tor illegal either.
