When a carbon monoxide detector goes off, I often question whether it is a real concern or not.

Today I texted my landlord to see if he has a device to check the actual levels. He did not, but the gas company came and they detected it was a legitimate concern.

Anyways, at least it is a sunny day! ☀️

Is it next to your hot water tank?

it is in the hallway, my hot water heater is electric, my boiler is natural gas

There should be a hood on the boiler that carries away the fumes. Did they test that it was working as expected?

There are two issues:
1. Vent isn't carrying away fumes like it should
2. Fumes aren't CO2 like they should be (burner needs servicing b/c it's burning dirty)

A furnace guy should be able to solve both

it was very dirty and old, landlord is cleaning it now
