I thought I was smart ordering steamed hot dogs, they're soft, right? Should be easy peazy to eat on one side of the mouth... But I now have issue fully opening my mouth without it hurting, jesus christ man

Yes and no it depends.
Depends on the composition. If you steam hotdogs and any sausage without piercing them then they'll cooking with their fat, in the case of hot dog it's with extra chemicals so it's recommended to at least cut them in half so the steam removes as much as possible.
