i've been using Hacker News as an internet connection test for the past decade or so - it's a lightweight webpage that loads quickly and with minimal bandwidth and works to test "real life" world wide web connectivity. what do you use to test your internet?

Specially as it also doesn't forces https so it's neat for captive portals.
