12@lanodan true, also explains why it has certain issues with normie-accessibility.
Go grab a normie at times and set them down in front of your programs. Its quite painful, but also pretty interesting.
@lanodan your pleasurable pasttime must be subservient to commodification and consumption. Or, you are an elitist.
@lanodan if normies implies people can't even solve a simple problem, so yes, out of touch with normies
People's obsession with making free software easier to use is very misguided. It's based on the assumption that tomorrow, everybody would start using Linux if it was easier to use, which makes no sense.
It makes no sense because a large amount of Linux distros are already easier to install than windows, like Linux mint. The reason people use Windows is because it's pre-installed, it's that simple.
@yomiel There's a ton of reasons why people use windows.
But it's a combination of hardware needs + pre-installed software + available-software.
And people who can install an OS are probably a rounding error, specially as hardest step for non-nerds seems to more be "How the heck does one flashes a USB thumbdrive", while a nerd will just do something like cp ponyos.iso /dev/sdb (or one of those cargo-culted and nowadays slower dd commands)
