i think people still don't know the level of 'it's over'. it really is fully, completely, irrevocably over. yeah you might write some code at your job, but if it's a free market job, that'll be over soon (if it's a government job, you might have another decade). find something else to do.

9now you might still work there and do good work, and it will be pressing keys to make electrons flow in a pleasing way, but it won't be public static void
@lain By that logic, why do anything at all when I'll be usurped by the race to the bottom whereby finding the cheapest possible labour is the end goal?
@thatbrickster there's no 'by that logic' there, that's just the normative force of the factual. do you want to be hired to shovel coals on an electric train?
@lain i figure i have about 1 year left tops
@meowski I think most people who are programming right now will still convert thought into code, they just won’t do it via typing
@lain because it works or because enough people think it works?
@lain yea i'll just move on to my bioinformatics projects full time, but i do think one day soon my clients will be getting emails from their google cloud acct saying "try our gemini agent, it does [everything i do], just give it your root password" and that will be the end of my client income.
@anemone idk that really depends on you
